General competences:

  • Ability of the students of this postgraduate degree to apply the knowledge acquired and their problem-solving skills with a multidisciplinary approach within the discipline of Dentistry.
  • Ability of the students of this postgraduate degree to integrate knowledge and resolve the complexity of clinical cases in Surgical and Prosthodontic Implantology, Periodontology and Oral Surgery.
  • Ability of the students of this postgraduate degree to communicate clearly and concisely, both to their counterparts and to the patient in general, developing styles of excellence and quality.
  • Learning ability: that students have the learning skills that will enable them to continue studying in a way that will be largely self-directed or autonomous.

 

Specific competences:

  • To know and understand oral surgery within the wide context of the patient as a functional unit, which requires comprehensive treatment.
  • To know and understand the necessary basis for the knowledge of the surgical processes related to implantology.
  • To know and understand the knowledge necessary for them to be able to study more in detail the field of dental prosthesis and acquire a more in-depth diagnostic criteria, as well as a more specific knowledge of current techniques.
  • To know and understand advanced surgical techniques and their relationship.
  • To know and understand the processes of functional and aesthetic restoration, both partial and edentulous, on implants.
  • To know and understand the techniques and materials used in complete and partial prostheses, both fixed and removable.
  • To know and understand low, medium, and high complexity oral rehabilitations based on scientific evidence.
  • To know and understand all the characteristics of the materials and technologies currently available to provide treatment with an adequate and predictable aesthetic result.
  • To know and understand the different cosmetic procedures in cosmetic Dentistry.
  • To be able to identify and prevent or treat the risk factors present in each patient (underlying and/or triggering).
  • To be able to identify the alterations, pathologies or special characteristics that must be treated in collaboration with other Health Science specialists.
  • To be able to identify the individual characteristics of the patient, physical, psychological and/or social, which may determine the treatment plan and/or the timeliness of it.
  • To be able to plan an appropriate treatment plan and a logical therapeutic sequence for real patients, as well as acquire the ability to present and defend the results of their work in a clinical session.
  • To be able to apply treatment protocols and clinical monitoring on real patients, as well as to acquire the ability to collect clinical data on each patient in a systematic way.
  • To know and be able to identify the adverse effects and/or clinical complications of rehabilitation and facial aesthetics treatments, as well as the clinical protocols for the resolution and treatment of these problems.
  • To know and understand techniques in basic and advanced implantology.
  • To know and understand the processes of guided surgery and guided expansion.
  • To know and understand the protocol for immediate post-extraction function and provisionalisation.To know the different therapeutic orientations and/or the different therapeutic protocols that are possible when planning the treatment of different complexities.To know and understand surgical and prosthetic protocols.
  • To know and understand the combined treatments of these processes.
  • To know and understand what are the functions of the implantology and periodontics specialist within a multidisciplinary team.
